Beware of phone solicitations
Hawaii Fire Fighters Association is NOT conducting phone solicitations
Identity theft, frauds, and scams are the fastest growing crimes in our communities, and many Hawaii citizens are victims of these serious crimes. If you are contacted by someone asking for donations on behalf of firefighters, EMS or first responders, DO NOT DONATE OR GIVE OUT YOUR INFORMATION. Ask for the organization’s name and phone number to call and do your research first. Call the Attorney General’s office to report the suspicious activity. Please pass the word on to your family and friends.

Cancer Prevention and Monitoring
Don’t wait until January. Make cancer prevention and monitoring a regular part of your health and well-being.
The Firefighter Cancer Support Network, in partnership with the IAFF, designates January as Fire Fighter Cancer Awareness Month and provides fire fighters the necessary tools and guidance to develop life-saving protocols for cancer prevention and to support those with a cancer diagnosis within their departments.
At the 2023 IAFF Fallen Fire Fighter Memorial, almost 63% of the names added to the wall (361 out of 572) were members who had died from occupational cancer.
Members are encouraged to get screened regularly and practice ways to reduce their exposure on the job.
Visit https://firefightercancersupport.org/ if you need assistance or to join the network.
Video: How the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer Works
All firefighters, with or without cancer, are encouraged to consider participating in the National Firefighter Registry for Cancer. Your participation is critical for understanding firefighters’ risk of cancer. Visit https://NFR.cdc.gov to enroll.
Firefighters are welcome to contact [email protected] with more questions. Learn more at www.cdc.gov/NFR
